The 2007 Massachusetts LifeSmarts State Champion team is Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. The LS1 “The Miltons” surpassed 19 other teams from the Massachusetts area. The second place winner was Milton High School, “Milton FBL.” This year Massachusetts had close to 900 students compete in the online component and a little below 800 who qualified to compete at the state level. The teams came from East Longmeadow, Medfield, Palmer, Boston, Wachusett, Wakefield, Worcester, and newcomer Apponequet. The competition has grown immensely each year, and all teams have given tremendous efforts to make it a huge success. At the Lifesmarts National Competition held in Buena Vista, FL, first timer Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School placed fourth amongst 32 other state championship schools.
In additition, the National Consumer League had their first national t-shirt design competition this year. Jeff Skaza of Palmer High School (Massachusetts) won. Jeff's design appears on the 2007 National LifeSmarts shirts.
What Is LifeSmarts?
LifeSmarts is a fun educational program
that encourages high school students to learn about
the consumer issues they face today and the new challenges
that are right around the corner!
LifeSmarts can complement any high
school curriculum and is a great activity for classes,
groups, clubs, and community organizations!
LifeSmarts competitions are open to
all teens in the United States in grades 9 through 12.
LifeSmarts develops teamwork, self-esteem,
verbal communication skills, and leadership abilities.
